Eutelsat and Infinite Orbits join forces to prepare a life-extension mission

Paris, September 9, 2026

Eutelsat, France's long-established geostationary satellite operator, and Infinite Orbits, a French NewSpace company specialised in in-orbit services, announce their intention to collaborate on a life-extension mission for at least one geostationary satellite.

Focused on extending the operational life of at least one satellite, this partnership will enable Eutelsat to take a more dynamic approach to fleet management by pioneering innovative services designed to optimise the use and value of its existing in-orbit assets. This approach will complement Eutelsat's ongoing investments in the renewal and development of its fleet, while providing greater flexibility in managing the lifecycle of its satellites.

“Extending the operational life of our GEO satellites will enable greater flexibility in managing our fleet helping to maintain continuity of service for our customers and maximise the value of assets already in orbit. We are delighted to work with Infinite Orbits to explore how in-orbit servicing can advance more sustainable and efficient satellite operations,” said Frédéric Piro, Chief Engineering Officer at Eutelsat.

Supported by the France 2030 program, Infinite Orbits announced in 2025 the signing of a landmark commercial contract in the field of satellite life extension, making it the second company worldwide to announce a mission of this kind. This new project demonstrates the strength of the French space ecosystem by bringing together a long-established space company and a rising star of the French NewSpace sector. It combines industrial expertise with technological agility around a shared ambition: to strengthen the competitiveness and innovative capacity of Europe's space sector while incorporating orbital infrastructure sustainability considerations from the earliest stages.

Building on the experience gained by Infinite Orbits through its first commercial missions, this collaboration also aims to prepare a mission capable of servicing satellites built on different platforms. Exploring and validating broader compatibility will represent an important milestone in Infinite Orbits' development and strengthen its leading position in the global in-orbit services market.

“Opening our new AIT facility in Toulouse was an important step in scaling Infinite Orbits for the missions ahead. Today, with Eutelsat, we are taking the next one. This collaboration brings together new industrial capacity and a concrete mission ambition to extend the life of satellites already in orbit, paving the way for operational life-extension services in the coming years” Adel Haddoud, Chief Executive Officer of Infinite Orbits.

This initiative marks a new milestone for French in-orbit servicing capabilities. Eutelsat and Infinite Orbits are making a concrete commitment to life extension, paving the way for a future operational mission.
