About the Company

Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendezvous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. Our key projects include

"Orbit Guard" a nanosatellite capable of monitoring objects in GEO orbit, and "Endurance" a docking service extending customer satellites' lifespans by 5 years.

About the Role

To complete our dynamic and international team, we are looking for a System Engineer! The System Engineer ensures the integration and performance of all system components, from hardware to software and works across various projects, ensuring systems meet requirements and work seamlessly. Reports to the CTO.

Job Description


  1. Mission Concept Design and Analysis:

    • Lead the definition of mission objectives and operational concepts.

    • Perform trade-off analyses on system architectures and satellite configurations (e.g., payload, platform, AOCS, power).

    • Analyze and assess system-level performance parameters such as mission timeline, reliability, and capacity.

  2. Systems Engineering:

    • Develop system requirements, functional specifications, and interface definitions.

    • Support the design, development, and integration of satellite subsystems (propulsion, communications, thermal, etc.).

    • Manage system budgets (mass, power, data, etc.) and ensure alignment with mission goals.

    • Define and coordinate system-level trade-offs, margin analysis, and risk assessment.

  3. Technical Leadership in Development Phases:

    • Oversee the full lifecycle of satellite missions: from preliminary design reviews (PDR) to critical design reviews (CDR), assembly, integration, and testing (AIT), and in-orbit validation (IOV).

    • Ensure the integration of components and subsystems to meet mission requirements.

    • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve technical challenges.

  4. Validation and Verification (V&V):

    • Define and manage system-level V&V plans, including environmental testing, functional validation, and performance verification.

    • Support flatsat testing, test campaigns, and anomaly resolution during AIT phases.

    • Participate in on-ground and in-orbit mission validation activities.

  5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

    • Act as a technical interface between teams, suppliers, and customers.

    • Collaborate with specialists in mechanical, electrical, RF, AOCS, and software disciplines.

    • Support bids and proposals with technical inputs and trade studies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience at systems engineer for a space mission preferably in a Newspace company

  • Master’s degree or equivalent, specifically in the field of Autonomous systems/Aerospace/Space Engineering.

  • Knowledge of satellite architectures, subsystems, flight Dynamics, control systems and space environments.

  • Basic knowledge of CAD Design and electronic circuit theory

  • Coding skills in Matlab/Simulink

  • Developed concepts for mobile systems/vehicles with regard to prototyping, autonomy, FDIR and situational awareness

  • Excellent abstraction and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Pro-activeness and ability to work in a self-directed, fast-paced and result-oriented environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.

  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
